Seven of Ten Recommend Online Book Retailer Adlibris

Ad Libris is No. 2 - behind Ikea - when it comes to brands consumers recommend to another in Sweden.

Market, an industry magazine for retailers, has conducted a survey of 1,500 consumers, asking which companies they would recommend to relatives, friends and acquaintances. The Swedish online book retailer Adlibris landed at No. 2 on the list - the only brand recommended more often was Ikea.

Bonnier Corporation's Garden Design gets new staff and a new look.

Garden Design magazine is reinventing itself with a major redesign, new staff, and fresh editorial focus. William L. Hamilton, former reporter and editor at The New York Times and Martha Stewart Living, is taking over as editor-in-chief and James Oseland, editor-in-chief of Bonnier's Saveur, will be editorial director. Greg Ferro, former executive editor of All You, will be executive managing editor.

Expressen and Allt om Mat Release Cookbook Series

In a follow-up to an earlier series on tastes from around the world, Swedish daily newspaper Expressen and food magazine Allt om Mat release a new set of cookbooks.

On Sept. 26, Expressen launched a new collectible cookbook series: Allt om det goda (everything good) with recipes from  Allt om Mat as well as some new material.

New iPhone App for SATS by Spoon

Members of Swedish fitness center chain SATS can book classes, check the nearest gym and get training, diet and health tips on their phones.

Swedish content agency and custom publisher Spoon has created a new iPhone app for the fitness center chain SATS.

Newest Member of the Mag+ Family: Mama+

The Swedish magazine for mothers comes out with a version for the iPad: mama+. It's the first iPad magazine for the Swedish market.

The first Swedish magazine for e-readers will be launched Sept. 28 - mama+ from Bonnier Tidskrifter. The magazine is the fourth to come out on Bonnier's Mag+ platform for the iPad. Popular Science+ was released simultaneously with the U.S.

Authors Get Their Say on TV Series

Nyläst, a new TV series on the Swedish Axess TV, features writers talking about their work. The series is sponsored by Bonnierförlagen.

On Sunday Sept. 26 at 9:30 p.m., Swedish Axess TV premiered the new series Nyläst (recently read). A literary magazine program, Nyläst features in-depth interviews with authors of new books as well as tips on books to read. The series, which is produced by Bonnierförlagen and Svenska Filmbolaget, will be broadcast every Sunday evening.

Expressen's Profits at SEK 100 million First Eight Months

With SEK 100 million in profits, 2010 will be a good year for Swedish daily Expressen says CEO Bengt Ottosson.

Swedish evening daily Expressen continues to have a strong 2010. Profits for the first eight months were over SEK 100 million, which is double profits compared to 2009 (SEK 49.1 million).

Revenues increased to SEK 1.03 billion (compared to SEK 1 billion in 2009) and costs decreased to SEK 931 million compared to SEK 957 in 2009.

"Above all we've had a strong development in our ad revenues," says Expressen CEO Bengt Ottosson.

The U.S. magazine industry's Min Integrated Marketing Awards were announced on Sept. 15 and three Bonnier magazines were among the winners: Parenting, Outdoor Life and Field & Stream. The Integrated Marketing Awards salute the campaigns, ongoing programs and innovative people who've raised the bar on magazine marketing programs, according to Min.
