Canal+ Extends Rights to La Liga

The Swedish Canal+ has secured the exclusive rights to the Spanish soccer league La Liga for the 2012-2013 through the 2014-2015 seasons. La Liga has been broadcast on Canal+ since 2010, and will continue for the next four seasons. The contract is for all media platforms including matches shown exclusively on Canal+ and a selection in HD.  

"Spanish soccer is in a class of its own," says Johan Kleberg, CEO for Canal+. "Spain dominates the national-team soccer and Barcelona local-club soccer.

Two New Channels from CANAL+

CANAL+ Family and CANAL+ Emotion to start broadcasting June 1.

Starting June 1, TV subscribers will be able to watch two new channels: CANAL+ Family and CANAL+ Emotion. At Family (read more here), will show the prize-winning BBC series, family films and more. Emotion, which will broadcast everything from film dramas to romantic comedies, is "the film channel that will arouse all kinds of feelings" according to a press release.

Hockey World Championships 2012 with MTV Oy and Canal+

Plans are already underway for giving TV viewers more of everything for the Hockey World Championships in 2012. MTV Oy and Canal+ will be providing a range of hockey offerings.

In spring 2010, MTV Oy acquired the media rights to the hockey world championships for the 2012 to 2017 period that covers two home tournaments co-hosted with Sweden. And now the TV company has announced its plans for next year.

All games played in the tournament taking place in Helsinki, Finland, and Stockholm, Sweden, in May 2012 will be seen on CANAL+ , a channel administered by MTV Oy.

Stuart Baxter Joins Sunday Soccer Afternoon at Canal+

Scottish coach and manager Stuart Baxter new expert for Canal+ all-Sweden soccer Sundays.

Scotsman Stuart Baxter, most recently the team manager for Finland's national soccer team, is joining the line of experts for Canal+ in Sweden. Baxter has coached Swedish teams as well as served as the team manager for the South African national team.

TV4 and Telenor Strengthen Ties with C More Entertainment Deal

The TV4 Group and Telenor's collaboration enhanced with new C More Entertainment co-ownership agreement.

The TV4 Group and Telenor Group today announced that they have entered a co-ownership agreement for C More Entertainment, which runs its premium TV operations under the Canal+ brand. Telenor will acquire 35 per cent of C More Entertainment through a share purchase and a directed new share issue of the company's shares. Telenor has paid a cash consideration of SEK 787 million. In addition certain sports rights owned by Telenor, for example SAS Ligaen and FIFA World Cup 2010 in Denmark, have been sublicensed to C More Entertainment.

More Sport for Canal+

New sports channels plus new media rights for soccer, hockey, tennis and other sports at Canal+.

The Nordic countries cable giant Canal+ has expanded, with new channels Canal+ Fotboll (soccer) and Canal+ Hockey and new sport media rights with increased coverage of important leagues - Allsvenskan and the hocky Elitserien give Canal+ a strong sport offering. Spanish La Liga and Allsvenskan are broadcast exclusively by Canal+ and the number of matches from Allsvenskan and Elitserien shown will be increased both via Canal+ Sport 1 and the new channels.

TV4 Group and Ericsson in ten-year strategic partnership

The TV4 Group and Ericsson have entered into a ten-year strategic partnership with the aim of driving and leading development of the TV technology of the future. Under the agreement, Ericsson will be taking over responsibility for all TV4 Group transmission operations.

Under the ten-year partnership and technology development agreement, Ericsson will be taking over responsibility for TV4 Group transmission operations. The 40 people at TV4 working in the departments concerned will be offered employment with Ericsson.
