A Different Kind of History Book Series

Historie’s new series gives readers an in-depth look at turning points in history.

When Historie magazine decided to put out a book series for its readers, the editorial staff went all out. "We spent millions of kroner and a year of development to launch a series that's in a class by itself both in design and format," says Sebastian Relster, editor-in-chief of the magazine at Bonnier Publications in Denmark.

Canal+ to Launch Children's Channel

The new channel will broadcast the BBC's prizewinning kid's concept Cbeebies and family films daily.

Starting in June, Swedish, Norweigna and Danish subscribers to Canal+ can watch children's and family programming on a new channel. Not yet named, the new channel will feature programming from the British BBC's prizewinning children's concept CBeebies and child-friendly feature films.

"Canal+ has a lot to offer most viewers whether their preference is films, sports or TV-series," says Johan Kleberg, CEO for Canal+.

Bonnier Publications Increases Profits 50 percent

The Nordic magazine publisher had profits of DKK 220 million in 2010.

Bonnier Publications ended 2010 with an operating profit (EBITA) of DKK 220 million. This result is created based on a turnover of DKK 1.68 billion, giving a contribution margin of 13 percent. In 2009, operating profits (EBITA) were DKK 144 million, meaning an increase of 53 percent.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Bonnier Publications is Scandinavia's largest magazine publisher. The Group has publications and activities in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia and the Netherlands.

Magnus Dimert New CEO for Adlibris

Starting Feb. 21, Magnus Dimert takes over at online book retailer Adlibris.

Online book retailer Adlibris gets a new/old CEO with Magnus Dimert, most recently head of book publisher Bonnierförlagen's consumer and logistics business area. He starts Feb. 21.

Dimert worked previously at Adlibris and was CEO from 2002-2008. He takes over from Pär Svärdson.

"I look forward to developing Adlibris further," says Dimert.

Bonnier Publications Breaks Website Visitor Record

Some 2.1 million visitors to Bonnier Publications websites marks a new high for the Copenhagen-based magazine company.

In January, Copenhagen-based magazine publisher Bonnier Publications' websites for the first time had over two million visitors. This marked an increase of 570,000 compared to January last year. I Form (In Shape) alone accounted for an increase of 240,000 users and had a total of 976,000 site visitors in January.
