Life At Bonnier - November 2009

Tuija Kuusela: The city of museums

Our Finnish GROW ambassador takes farewell of Stockholm with a great museum tour

I can't stop admiring the museums here. The buildings themselves, the diverseness and uniqueness of collections, the exhibition architecture... Undoubtedly Drottningholms Slott (Drottningholm Palace), Nationalmuseum, Vasamuseet (Vasa Museum) and Moderna Museet (The Museum of Modern Art) are gorgeous, but my own favorites are smaller scale places with some curious specialities.

Jorid Aldrin: Goodbye, Copenhagen!

Our GROW ambassador Jorid says farewell to Copenhagen – but she will definitely come back soon

So, this is it.

My GROW period has come to an end. I can't believe how fast time flies. It feels almost like I've just arrived, and I could easily have stayed for another 3 months. But my train is leaving for Stockholm in 5 days, so it's time to pack my bags and say goodbye to Copenhagen and Bonnier Publications.

Kristin Mack Alnaes: A hidden story

Our Norwegian GROW ambassador Kristin has just discovered one of Sydney Harbour's well-kept secrets

Even though Oslo (capital of Norway) only has 1/8 of the population of Sydney, I never feel lost in the big city. The similarities between the two cities are obvious. Sydney has got the features of a big city, like reasonable and taller skyscrapers, eight lanes freeways and 24/7 nightlife. And yet everything that I love about the town that I have lived in almost all my life, also can be found in this far away metropolis (today's dose of marketing Oslo and Sydney). The nature is just on the doorstep of the city.

Monika Klinar: The best month of the year

Our GROW ambassador Monika have a great time in NYC: birthday, halloween, marathon and the Yankees winning the World Series – all in one week!

November is the month that I am looking forward to most in the whole year. One reason is that my birthday is in the beginning of the month, which continues the birthday season in my family, another is because "happy December" is just a few weeks away.

Tuija Kuusela: Exploring Stockholm without a dog

Tuija from Finland uses a guidebook for dog owners to explore the Swedish capital

Stockholm's city centre (Innerstaden) is divided into five neighbourhoods: Gamla Stan, Norrmalm, Östermalm, Södermalm, Kungsholmen and Vasastan. While having tried to get a general view of the whole, I must say that Stockholm manages to be both cosmopolitan and maintain a small town feel. For being such a big city, the center area is surprisingly humane. It consists of a group of islands so you can see water almost everywhere. All the possible pieces of land are not developed — there is a lot of vast or smaller green areas and parks.

Kristin Mack Alnaes: Merry November!

Kristin from Norway tells us why November is a great month down under – and why half of the nation is dressed in moustaches

Usually I look forward to November only for one single reason; my birthday. Beyond that the second to last month of the year is dull, dark and depressing. November in Australia is a wonderful contrast.

Firstly, it is not raining permanently, even though the humidity is high. Secondly, November down under has something to offer that no other months have; a nation that stops. And a nation (or at least half of the nation) dressed in moustaches.

Ylva Lundberg: A dream of my own avocado tree

Our Swedish GROW blogger Ylva works hard to do all the must-do's before she leaves Florida: rocket launch, alligators, Halloween and an avocado tree of her own

Hi there! Right now I'm a little desperate to make sure that I get to do and see all the things that I want before I leave. A week ago I accomplished one of those things on my list. Steve, his friend (Dennis), and I went down to Titusville to see the launch of the 327-foot Ares I-X rocket. It was Tuesday morning and we left at 6am to be there on time. We got there on time, but it turned out to be hours of waiting and sadly enough we had to go home. Apparently there were too many clouds and other ridiculous obstacles for the rocket to launch.

Jorid Aldrin: A Night at the Opera

Jorid enjoys Copenhagen's cultural experience and works with analyse of new sites

Sunday, I just got back from a long walk in the beautiful Fredriksberg gardens which was created more than 300 years ago and is said to be one of the most romantic landscape gardens in Denmark. I can only agree. It was absolutely fantastic with large ponds and canals surrounded by old trees in autumn colours, winding paths and small bridges.

Steffen Trannerup: Suction fish, surfing and space rockets

Our GROW blogger Steffen from Denmark goes fishing and sets up a great initiative connecting Bonnier Corporation and Bonnier Publications

Testing, testing, one, two…

During my stay here in Winter Park, Heather Vessey and I have talked about how Bonnier Corp. and Bonnier Publications could share knowledge within email marketing in the future.

We want some sort of community or forum where everyone who works with this can exchange test results, creatives, campaigns, advice, etc. and share things we find inspirational. Sometimes something really stands out for some reason and these results should be spread out for everybody to use, learn and get inspired from.

Monika Klinar: Life at Bonnier Corporation

Our Slovenian GROW ambassador Monika tells us about her work at the Corporate Research Department and looking forward to Halloween

My GROW experience has entered its last month, and up to now I haven't told you a lot about my work here at the Corporate Research Department at Bonnier Corporation. I better do it, so when I'm back home, I won't need to do a lot of explaining. As I've told you in my first post, Bonnier Corporation publishes more than 50 special interest magazines, related multimedia projects and events.
