Life At Bonnier - Bonnier Tidskrifter

Meet Amy Mangino

For GROW participant Amy Mangino, different countries means different magazine models.

Handling magazine advertisements or subscriptions differ depending on which side of the Atlantic you work. So says GROW participant and New Yorker Amy Mangino, who is on a three-month work exchange in Stockholm.  "I thought it would be a great opportunity to live abroad and learn how magazine publishing works in another country," says Mangino, 34, who has worked as a marketing director at Bonnier Corporation's Saveur for the past two years. "I create the media kit, general presentation, and category presentations," she says.

Meet Frida Jonasson

Meeting new people, learning new things and brushing up on skills is what GROW is all about for Frida Jonasson.

What brought Frida Jonasson to Florida was her curiosity. The GROW participant, who is spending three months as production manager at Destination Weddings & Honeymoons and Islands among other titles, wanted to see how magazine production works in another country. "Sometimes you need to challenge yourself in order to grow, both professionally and personally," she says.

Linus Holm, 29, who is a production manager in Stockholm, has worked with marketing, purchasing and production management since he began at Bonnier in 2006. He started out at Semic and in 2008 moved to Bonnier Tidskrifter.

Since the beginning of February, however, he has been a GROW participant, working as a production manager for Bonnier Corporation in Orlando. He provides printers with print instructions and deals with ads for Islands, among other magazines.

"It's going great," Holm says.

ToppHälsa magazine succeeds in downturn

A 10 percent increase in ad sales in 2009 for Swedish magazine ToppHälsa is due to a smart mix of health, training and personal development.

Bonnier Tidskrifter magazine ToppHälsa will celebrate its fifth year of publication with an anniversary issue, No. 5, later this year. Editorial staff are working now with issue No. 4 which goes to press in a few days. The theme is strength. Managing editor Frida Boisen proudly explains that ToppHälsa is the only magazine in the health segment that has raised its readership numbers – while other health magazines have lost readers.

"We actually managed to raise ad sales by 10 percent.

Feber – the Modern Magazine

"Gas pedal problem bigger than expected", "Skarsgard in new movie", "Norwegian Cessna landing", plus a teaser on Italian fashion designer Valentino's spring and summer collection. Few magazines could succeed with such a broad mix of cover headlines – but Feber – which means Fever in English – can. This past week for the first time the magazine boasted 150,000 unique visitors

Feber.se calls itself "Sweden's biggest news-related blog network."  Since the beginning of 2010 it has been a part of Bonnier Tidskrifter's Digital Media apartment. The editorial staff of three includes Roger Åberg, CEO; Caroline Blomst, fashion director; and Wille Wilhelmsson, technology editor.

Bonnier Creative Enters New Phase

Growing from a staff of two to about ten. Expanding from a basic Production agency to a combined Production and Event agency, with plenty of exciting assignments. Bonnier Creative’s Head of Creative, Louise Fallenius has a fully booked calendar for 2010

"We're sitting on an editorial treasure here at Bonnier Tidskrifter, but sometimes advertisers don't simply want to buy the usual full- and half-page ads. They're looking for something else," says Louise Fallenius. "And that's where we come in."

A Week in the Life: This new Sydsvenskan Web editor talks about their latest project

Today I started my new job as Web editor for Malmö editorial. Computer and telephone were in place, but no network cable. So, the day began with a few calls to our technical support.

The past year, Sydsvenskan has conducted a project called the New Sydsvenskan. Part of the project is the redesign that is being launched on Saturday. Another part of the project is to have several web editors move out of the Web's central desk to various editorial. So as of today, I am working on Malmö editorial.

She’s been called Sweden’s Oprah Winfrey.  With three of the biggest Swedish magazine successes of the last 15 years under her belt, two Stora Journalistpriset (Great Journalist Awards) and the devotion of multiple generations of women readers, it’s easy to see why Amelia Adamo is the queen of magazines.

We had one foot in the sink and one in the stiletto.
