Preparing for Bonnier Sales Awards

With a gala fest, prizes and an inspirational conference, the Bonnier Sales Awards honor the best sales staff within Bonnier. The nomination period opens Jan. 1.

As the end of the year approaches, ad sales representatives throughout Bonnier are checking out their sales goals and seeing how well they did. It's also time for their sales managers to think about the Bonnier Sales Awards 2011. The awards, with prizes worth over EUR 20,000, will be given out at a gala dinner where guests will be treated to live entertainment, toast the winners with champagne and dance the night away at Stockholm's elegant Grand Hotel.

Meet Sara Schiano

Bonnier Sales Awards Field Sales Representative of the Year finalist Sara Schiano is the sole nominee from the U.S. at this year’s awards gala.

When five enthusiast titles from Hachette Filipacchi were bought by Bonnier Corporation in 2009, Sara Schiano came along with the deal. Schiano easily made the transfer as a sales representative for the new Bonnier Technology Group, where she brought plenty of resources with her. "In 2010, I was most proud of bringing my core photography advertisers into Popular Science and online at our popsci.com website and iPad tablet platform," says Schiano.

Meet Trond Juliussen

Defining ambitious short-term and long-term sales goals is what leads to constant development and growth, says Mats Ståhl, sales manager at TV4 in Sweden. Ståhl, who started at TV4 in 2005, has continually focused on the bigger picture within the company and the media market. "Make sure you read and understand the company's goals for the next years," he says.

Daring to think the unthinkable is the biggest challenge when working in sales, says Johan Fernqvist, sales manager at TV4 in Sweden. "As a representative for a market leader, you can't get stuck in old thinking and habits," says Fernqvist. "Never be so full that you don't have the energy to run."

Every day at his job, Linus Andersson learns something new. Andersson, who is a key account manager at Swedish business daily Dagens industri, is proud of this openness, which is only part of his proven success - he was recently named a finalist for Field Sales Representative of the Year in the Bonnier Sales Awards. "You need to listen to customers and show them they are important," he says. "Build relationships, trust and think long-term. Be sincerely interested in your customers' business and goals.
