Life At Bonnier - Islands

Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Stays on Top of the Recession

With a highly desirable niche audience, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine has managed well in the hard-hit bridal industry.

It all started as a one-off: Islands magazine created a special-interest issue in 2002 of a magazine aimed at brides planning weddings away from home. Called Islands Weddings & Honeymoons, the magazine filled a niche that no one else had hit.

Chris Tauber New Group Brand Director of Travel & Lifestyle Group

Chris Tauber, who has been spearheading Islands magazine's digital efforts with multiple iPhone apps and its upcoming iPad launch, has been promoted to the newly created position of Group Brand Director, overseeing several of Bonnier Corporation's travel brands.

The announcement was made by Sue Gilman, group publisher of the travel and lifestyle group.

Meet Frida Jonasson

Meeting new people, learning new things and brushing up on skills is what GROW is all about for Frida Jonasson.

What brought Frida Jonasson to Florida was her curiosity. The GROW participant, who is spending three months as production manager at Destination Weddings & Honeymoons and Islands among other titles, wanted to see how magazine production works in another country. "Sometimes you need to challenge yourself in order to grow, both professionally and personally," she says.

Meet Jaclyn Rymuza

Magazine designer from Florida appreciates eco-friendly Stockholm.

When Jaclyn Rymuza decided to make a temporary switch from designing magazines to designing books, she was motivated by a number of factors. "I applied to the GROW program because I knew this would be a fantastic opportunity to experience new design ideas and to experience new challenges and also a whole new culture," she says.  "Overall, I wanted to be inspired!"

Vacations in the Sun

Check out the latest hot vacation spots from Bonnier magazines.

As Winter loosens its grip on the northern hemisphere, dreams of sunny beaches abound. Whether it's Spring break for students or a weekend getaway for couples, getting away to someplace where the sun is shining and you don't need anything more than a pair of shorts and a T-shirt is appealing.

Testing, testing, one, two…

During my stay here in Winter Park, Heather Vessey and I have talked about how Bonnier Corp. and Bonnier Publications could share knowledge within email marketing in the future.

We want some sort of community or forum where everyone who works with this can exchange test results, creatives, campaigns, advice, etc. and share things we find inspirational. Sometimes something really stands out for some reason and these results should be spread out for everybody to use, learn and get inspired from.
