Life At Bonnier - Megan Miller

Megan Miller on Tablets

Bonnier R&D's Megan Miller speaks at AppWorks in Oslo.

At the recent AppWorks conference in Oslo - the largest conference in Scandinavia on mobile applications - the two hottest topics were location services and tablets. So says Bonnier R&D's Megan Miller, who spoke on a panel with representatives from Adobe and Katachi, a soon-to-be-launched tablet magazine.

"We talked about what defines a magazine experience, and whether it's possible to move the experience to a tablet while creating something entirely new," says Miller. "Does this mean print magazines are going to go away? Not anytime soon.

Megan Miller in Folio Top 40

Industry organization names most influential in magazine media.

Magazine industry organization recently named the 2011 Folio: 40, a "list of some of the most distinguished magazine and media professionals from every corner of our industry." Among those named was Megan Miller, program director of Bonnier Corporation Research and Development.

"Miller is always on the lookout for the best ways to monetize new technology in the publishing world," Folio stated in its reasoning for putting Miller on the list.

An Outsider's View of Russian Tech Entrepreneurs

Bonnier R&D's Megan Miller talks about her recent experiences at last week's Russian Internet Forum.

At Russia's biggest tech event, the Russian Internet Forum (RIF), some 6,000 participants gathered last week to discuss and listen to what's happening in the industry, network and get inspiration. One of the speakers was Megan Miller of Bonnier R&D in the U.S., speaking about the burgeoning connected-TV market as part of a panel on new media innovations.

"Entrepreneurs in today's Russia are working in an environment that is not yet friendly to an open exchange of information and to high-risk investments, so they have to be very brave and forward-thinking," says Miller.

To launch three new web sites in only two months – is it even possible? It was the task that Megan Miller, digital director at Bonnier Mountain Group, faced this summer. And she did it – against all odds. Here is her own story.

The first thing I noticed about the Bonnier office in Boulder, Colorado was the giant ski-resort gondola hanging in the lobby above the reception desk. The second thing was that my work wardrobe of dresses and high heels were out of place in an office where outdoor gear doubles as business attire.
