At MTV MEDIA in Finland, Timo Kiuru works for entertainment channel Sub, producing events for the marketing team. But for three months, he's exchanging the snow and winter of Helsinki for the sun and relative warmth of Florida, where he's working at Bonnier Corporation as a GROW participant. He jokes that it was the weather that made him decide to apply. "Seriously, though," he says, "it was curiosity.

MTV3 star and Golden Venla winner Aku Hirviniemi

Finland's MTV Media was a big winner in the Golden Venla Awards, the country's most important TV competition. Actor and comedian Aku Hirviniemi, who stars in Stand Up on MTV3, won two awards - one  as best actor and one as the audience pick for best performer. The MTV3 hit series Easy Life won for best drama series and the search for lost relatives show Kadonneen jäljillä won for best reality program - for the second year in a row.

Finland's Sub is all about entertainment. With a heavy focus on popular series - both domestic and foreign - Sub is the No. 3 commercial station in Finland, with some 1.5 million daily viewers in a country of 5.3 million. That's a big chunk of the TV-watching public. Which makes Sub attractive to advertisers and business partners. But getting advertisers in an age of falling ad revenues takes more than just attractive viewership numbers.

The last weeks have brought new unexpected pleasure to my life. For more than 2 weeks I'm one of the hosts of the channel on which I work as a GROW program participant.

The whole story begun as a joke. During our corporate trip to Suomenlinna, in a restaurant with a glass of wine I told my colleagues about my working experience and mentioned the work as a host on St. Petersburg's MTV channel. Then my colleagues just for fun said: "Maybe you should make your own Russian speaking show on our channel?" Supporting the tone of the conversation I answered: "Sure, why not?"
