In 2009, the unique Yourlife concept started - under the radar - with a series of event evenings. Then in spring 2010, the Yourlife.nu site launched and the following September the first printed issue of the magazine came out. Today Yourlife celebrated it's first year anniversary with sold-out events in Stockholm and Göteborg – with among Emma Wiklund, Mia Skäringer and Jens Lapidus among those taking part.
"The best was the enthusiastic reaction of the readers," says Carina Nunstedt, editor-in-chief and founder of Yourlife. "The biggest challenge has been the entrepreneurial part of the concept, having the time to publicize and evaluate what we're doing at the same time we're breaking new ground."
Lina Rönning, event and marketing manager, has responsibility for planning the popular Yourlife events.
"We always start with a cooperation between the book publisher and the authors," says Rönning. "Then we tailor our program with various partners."
Swedish book publisher Bonnierförlagen has been involved in a number of the year's events.
"There is a clear trend right now with inspirational meet-the-author events of a more glamorous nature being more popular - both with authors and readers," says Helena Isaksson, manager for events at Bonnierförlagen. "And thanks to Yourlife, we've reached a younger audience than we usually get at our various author events."
What's the next step for the successful Yourlife concept?
"It's all about reaching even broader, at least get all the site visitors to buy the magazine and optiminze everything for the best exchange," says Nunstedt. "It's said that it takes three years to start a new magazine. To develop a magazine, website and event business won't take less time, but we're creating a broader business model, that in the future will be less vulnerable than the traditional magazine model."
