Charlotte Fagerlund: Demonstrations, Tennis, Live Chats

A Week in the Life: Hottest news in Malmö are the Davis Cup and launch of New Sydsvenskan.

The two events that dominate life at Sydsvenskan at the moment are the Davis Cup tennis competition, which is being held in Malmö this weekend and where massive demonstrations are expected, and the launch of the New Sydsvenskan on Saturday.

The Malmö section on the Web is filling up with stories about how the town is preparing for the demonstrations. There is also a housing fair in town. One of the Web TV reporters delivers a clip from the fair and I make a slide show from the pictures the photographer has taken.

The live chat that I booked yesterday also has to be prepared. We have two chat rooms, and yesterday both were booked, but now one is free. It's good to prepare a chat a bit in advance so the readers have a chance to post their questions.

The supplement about Sydsvenskan, which is being distributed with the printed paper on Saturday and which I've co-edited, is ready. Now it's time to prepare the Malmö web section for the redesign. All pictures are being resized, so the pictures that will be visible on the site on Saturday have to be changed. That has to be done manually, which is a time-consuming job.

On top of my job as web editor for the Malmö news group, I'm writing short texts for the new technology pages, which will be launched in the printed paper next week. The deadline is on Monday, so there's some research to do, to be able to write the texts tomorrow.
