Lund resident Annika Henning has worked at Sydsvenskan, Aftonbladet, Kvällsposten and Metro. She's now taking on a new task: she'll develop the one-woman editorial desk of the new free newspaper edition City Lund. Helsingborg and Landskrona in southern Sweden have had editions already and now that the Malmö/Lund edition is being split into two, there will be four editions of City in the Skåne region - the southernmost part of Sweden.
"I like City's journalistic ambitions with people as the main focus," says Henning. "Furthermore, we have a youthful outlook that will be aimed at the city's university students and young families. I like being located in Lund and I work well with the editorial team in Malmö, which is made up of young and ambitious workers who spur me on."
City Skåne has experienced fast development recently. Which means further work.
"We're increasing our reach and can thus charge more for our ads," says Jakob Ståhl, CEO for City Skåne. "Students are one of our most important target groups, so it seems smart to strengthen our presence in the university city of Lund."
During spring, City Kristianstad will be launched as well as a separate edition. It will be driven also as a one-man editorial desk.
Another change is that the contract with newswire service TT has been discontinued. This means that City will be creating its own content from now on for the sports, domestic and international sections.
"We're not doing it to save money, rather we want to continue to develop our unique City style," says Jonas Kanje, news director. "There should be nothing similar to [our competitor] Metro."
