Meet Anni Rein

GROW participant from Finland's MTV3 fits right in with Danish culture and life at business daily Børsen.

Anni Rein says she must have been a Copenhagener in a former life. "I've surprised myself with how easily I've blended in here in Copenhagen," says Rein, who moved from Helsinki to live in Copenhagen for three months as part of the GROW program. "Already after first week I've felt at home and that hasn't changed so far."

In Helsinki Rein, 29, works at MTV3 with business-to-business marketing as a marketing planner, whereas at Børsen, she works with circulation marketing, defining and developing Børsen's digital marketing activities when it comes to subscription campaigns and its loyalty program. "Thanks to GROW, I've really had the chance to adopt another point of view to marketing: The B2B marketing has changed into B2C marketing and TV+online focus into print+ online," she says. "This is a wonderful opportunity to broaden my marketing knowledge, learn new skills and shake myself out of the routines."

Much as she's getting from the job, it's the people that really make the difference, Rein says. "People at Børsen have been extremely welcoming and especially my team members have made me feel part of the team even though I'm staying here only temporarily," she says. "For example on my first day there was a bunch of flowers waiting for me on my desk! I encounter many small and bigger things every day that make me feel at home. I've also gotten to know some 'natives' outside the office who have become good friends of mine which also enriches my time here in Copenhagen."

One thing Rein will miss when she goes back to Helsinki is the biking culture. "I hope that one day it will spread out to Helsinki, too," she says. But what she won't miss are Danish doors. "Danish doors don't suit me," she says. "I always pull or push them in the wrong direction and even after one month that habit has stayed with me."
