The trio behind Newsmill, the leading Swedish online forum for public debate based on crowdcasting and subjective views on everyday news, received the News Prize from the political blog Politikerbloggen.se.
Karin Eder-Ekman, PM Nilsson, and Leo Lagercrantz accepted a prize check in the amount of 20,000 SEK, provided by Politikerbloggen's founder Niklas Svensson.
Politikerbloggen's founder Niklas Svensson says, "I am pleased and proud to provide the prize to three people who understand the force of social media. Karin, PM and Leo have dared to challenge the old media by creating an arena where everyone can be heard, not just the particular selected," says .
"It feels really exciting to be recognized for the type of journalism that we do," says Newsmill Editor-in-Chief PM Nilsson. "Many of this year's debates in Sweden have been on Newsmill. If they haven't started there, they have found their way and then happened there."
The prize money will probably go towards "Newsmill's one-year anniversary," says PM Nilsson.
