Pontus Schultz, project manager News+ and publisher at Bonnier Tidskrifter, was one of the speakers at SPCI, a Swedish event for the newspaper industry. Speaking on "Paper vs. Digial Media," Schultz made the point that digital and print can work well together.
"In the print world, we look at digital media with fearful fascination, as if it were conflicting with paper," said Schultz. "But the fact is that it creates more products around our brands, products that work in conjunction rather than that digital media 'kills print.' Something we've learned from our entire tablet project is that folk really like our brands."
Schultz points out that many new print products have been launched recently, including Di Dimension and Di Weekend from Swedish business daily Dagens industri as well as Swedish daily Expressen's various inserts.
"Throughout our work with the tablet projects, the starting point has been that there must be a discussion between the various players involved - the reader, hardware and software supplier, and not just the old partners," says Schultz. "My speaking at SPCI was part of this, a discussion about where our industry is headed."
