R&D Summary - week 51

Mag+

It has certainly been an exciting week for us at Bonnier R&D. We have been able to share with you some ideas we are working on through our new Beta Lab. Our first public project is the concept video for Mag+ which a lot of people seems to enjoy. It feels great to be able to share what we've been working on and especially to hear what people think of it. We're very proud of our little video and overwhelmed by the interest that intelligent people we look up to is showing. Thanks for the interest you've been showing and all the great comments! More than 100.000 views so far is a lot more than we expected. Big thanks to our partners at BERG. We're looking forward to continue our work on a great user experience for digital magazines.

Paulina has been working on our new site (including Beta Lab). We're really pleased with the results, hopefully you'll find the stuff you want from our section on bonnier.com. Let us know if you have any comments or ideas. Other than that Paulina's been singing Karaoke at Wasahof with Maria and met up with Entreprenörsjakten and House of Ideas. Add a talk on mediatrends for Bonnier International Magazines and Vatan publishing and you've got a pretty good idea of what Paulina's been up to.

Me (Emil) and Pontus have been meeting with the Swedish and Danish expert teams for Mag+. We looked at results from the user testing and discussed design principles going forward with the prototype. We have a pretty good picture of the experience we want to create for readers and Kicker Studio in San Francisco will help us with that. At the same time BERG in London will help us with the service and social layers that will play an important part in the complex ecosystem modern media products has to deal with. It feels great working with smart people that helps us concentrate on the user experience. No one knows how the consumption of digital products will look like in the next couple of years but we're pretty sure that focusing on creating compelling experiences is a good strategy.

Björn and Sara is working from our San Francisco office and they've been workshopping with Popular Science for Mag+, meeting with interesting Swedish entrepreneurs and attended christmas parties at Weldon Owen and one of my favourite design/tech studios Stamen design.

Happy Holidays and thanks for following us this year!
We will be back with updates from our R&D offices in 2010. If you can't wait until then, connect with us on Twitter.

The Idea is great little better then the one from The Wonderfactory, also we should think of a new way to manage Content (CMS) and how advertisers should make there ads more interactive. ill get into that;-) great concept. Maurice Kuhr

the idea is excellent but for the reading of an article can display full screen should be possible and not to scroll and lose the value of 2 / 3 Screen it easier to read. But the rest of concept is excellent and the interface is great.
