SF Bio Coordinates with Polar Music Prize

In conjunction with the Polar Music Prize, Sweden's most prestigious music award, SF Bio is showing film classics.

Composer Ennio Morricone and musical artist Björk are winners of this year's Polar Music Prize. The prize, which is given out by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and is the most prestigious music award in Sweden, will be awarded in Stockholm on Aug. 30. In conjunction with the Polar Music Prize, SF Bio cinemas are showing film classics that have a connection with the prize winners at the Skandia movie theater in Stockholm Aug. 27-29. There will also be long interviews with both prizewinners, dubbed the Polar Music Talks.

"This year it's natural to pay homage to the winners at the cinema," says Martin Strömberg, PR manager at SF Bio and responsible for the cooperation with the Polar Music Prize. "Both Björk and Ennio Morricone are associated with movies as well as music, in particular Ennio Morricone has had a huge impact on film music. We are also very proud that the Skandia theater will be the venue for people to listen to the prizewinners discuss their artistry."

The weekend is marketed as the Polar Film Festival. SF Bio's Bioklubben and sf.se have had contests where participants can win tickets to the Polar Music Talks on Sunday. The films being shown are Dancer in the Dark, 1900 (parts 1 and 2), Inglourious Basterds and The Untouchables.

"It's an exciting connection to be working with," says Strömberg. "And the public it's an excellent chance to see a few cinematic pearls - and remind oneself that films are best seen in a movie theater."

Tickets and more information can be found here.
