Copenhagen, Beginning of May. Sunshine, cherry blooms and icy cold Carlsberg. It's easy to understand why the Danes are Europe's happiest people according to recent surveys. Life here is simply so nice, or dejlig, as they say in Denmark.

Smörrebröd rules. These delicious little slices of bread with various toppings are everywhere. Even in the office canteen at Bonnier Publications. Yummy!

The Laundromat café. Quickly this cozy place has become one of our favorite hangouts. The best brunch imaginable and a possibility to run your laundry while sipping a Carlsberg. Never has it been easier to get your laundry done. What's more, they have a corner where kids can play! In Sweden, we're used to children's playrooms at Ikea—anything to keep decorating your home from unwanted disturbances. But here in Denmark, they have kid's corners at the pub. To socialize is holy in this country.

What about the partisans? Well the Nazi occupation during WWII didn't go down well with the Danes, who organized resistance groups. One of these cells operated out of the area now called Bopa plads (Bopa stands for Borgerlige Partisaner) which is where we live. Still today you can feel the spirit from those partisans in the air. The fight for the right to a good life. Viva Copenhagen!
