TV4 Fakta launched in Norway

Tv4 Fakta is the Nordic region's biggest documentary channel, already reaching over 1.9 million households in Sweden and over 300,000 households in Finland. Now TV4 Fakta will be launched in Norway as well.

At 6 p.m. on Monday, March 22, Canal Digital in Norway will broadcast TV4 Fakta via satellite and cable, and the channel will run programming on a nearly 24-hour basis. TV4 Fakta will reach around 1 million households already from the start.

"This is a big but natural step in our ambition to grow in the Nordic region," says Cecilia Beck-Friis, business area manager for TV4 Group's niche channels. "Big because the channel is a longed-for complement in the Norwegian channel assortment and will from the beginning reach so many people. Natural because it is a part of our obvious strategy."

Already today TV4 Group has four niche channels in Finland and a science-fiction channel in Norway. Via C More/Canal+, TV4 Group is also represented in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, and as recently as summer 2009, Canal9 was launched in Denmark.

TV4 Fakta began broadcasting in Sweden on Sept. 15, 2005 and has developed strongly since then. In just the past year has viewership nearly doubled, and is now at around 1.9 percent. In Finland TV4 Fakta is the No. 5 pay TV channel.

"We have obviously geared the channel toward documentaries with our slogan 'reality talks,'" says channel manager Kajsa Stål. "Not only with new programs, but also with the graphic design and packaging. It's something the public clearly likes, and before the premiere in Norway, we're preparing with even more strong programming."

TV4 Fakta will be part of the Norway package at DHT until June 1. After that, the channel will be part of the family package. On cable, TV4 Fakta can always be found as part of the basic package.
