TV4 Film Strengthens Brand with Facebook Page

With a chance to compete in contests, participate in polls and comment on films, TV4 Film expects its new Facebook page to engage viewers.

Now even TV4 Film can be found on Facebook. With tips on the movie premiere of the day, games and the possiblity for viewers to send in dedications that if chosen will be shown on TV, the channel hopes to create more attention to the brand. 

"We see this as yet another way of distributing the TV4 Film brand," says Bo Thörnwall, program director for the niche channels TV4 Film, TV4 Komedi, TV4 Guld and TV4 Science Fiction. "Already the tv4film.se site is popular and the channel's trailers have a lot of viewers within all the TV4 Group channels. We believe that Facebook can be a nice complement for potential viewers who haven't found our own site."

So far, the Facebook site has only had "underground" marketing: TV4 Film has invited people and spread the word among its friends. But soon the channel will be advertising on Facebook.

"Facebook can encourage spontaneous activities," says Thörnwall. "And I believe that the page will function best if we can get the page members active on specific questions. Besides advertising, we'll be asking questions, setting up polls, asking people to 'like' films and have a dialog about the content of TV4 Film. We already get a lot of requests and comments from viewers via e-mail."

The ambition is to also have video, such as trailers for the channel's films and themes, at the Facebook page. Depending on how it looks with copyrights, there could even be scenes from the films, bloopers and theme montages of a specific actor or actress.
