Pakistan has been hit by some of the worst flooding in the country's history and the ensuing humanitarian crisis is enormous. Millions have been affected, and the need for help is acute.
In response, TV4, Swedish Hockey League, Sportbladet and the Red Cross are cooperating with the Elite Series for Pakistan to help the flood victims. From Sept. 17 - 25, hockey arenas all over Sweden will be focusing on the crisis in Pakistan to get sponsors, supporters and the public to donate to the Red Cross's help efforts. Next week, the results of the drive will be presented daily on TV4's morning news show. Program presenter Kristin Kaspersen is one of those who helped come up with the initiative.
"When I heard that nearly 20 million people were affected and half of them are children, I understood the depth of the catastrophe," says Kaspersen. "Nearly 4 million children are at risk of dying if they don't get immediate assistance. We can't wait around to help."
