Hi there. This weekend me and my handyman went to the Dew Tour to see some of the best skaters and BMX riders compete and showing off there best tricks. This was a really fun event going on the whole weekend. What I think is very interesting with the publishing industry here is how they not only use traditional marketing channels like printed and digital medias but also how you can market the magazines through events and other happenings. I think that's a great way to build up loyalty towards advertisers as well as the subscribers. This is something that really interests me and it would be really fun to work with.
From sports events to travel events; I try to explore as much as possible of Florida so two weekends ago we went down to the Keys, a really nice escape from Orlando. The Keys are so beautiful and our first stop was Islamorada where we went on a snorkeling tour to hang out with all the fish. I love to snorkel among all the beautiful fish in the quietness and peacefulness of the ocean. My favorite was the turtle with one leg, we swam together for a while. I also saw a nurse shark which I thought was better of swimming on his own rather than with me. After this snorkeling safari I should tell you that if you are going to stay in the sun, don't use IKEA's sunscreen. My friend just bought it in Sweden for her Florida visit and although IKEA makes some good furniture they do not know how to make sunscreen. Luckily I had sprayed her with my fabulous Australian Gold so her back was ok, but everywhere else where the IKEA sunscreen was suppose to protect her, she was red like a lobster.
We continued down to Key West to enjoy all the fun down there. I had to take a picture of the southernmost point and I am almost a 100% sure I saw Cuba, or maybe it was just a dolphin. Another unique spot in Key West you shouldn't miss is the historic cemetery with the fascinating above-ground tombs. The cemetery was moved to higher ground after the 1847 hurricane disinterred bodies at the southernmost point. It is really amusing to walk around and read all the different and funny inscriptions of the graves. "I told you I was sick" is one of them, apparently a hypochondriac.
On our way home from the Keys we got recommended to stop in Hollywood to eat America's #1 Burger. The place is called Le Tub and both GQ and Oprah named it the nation's best burger and if Oprah says so I believe her. And she was right! This burger was something else, so huge that it took me a while just to figure out how to eat it. The meat was incredible, so juicy and yummy. I have to go back! The place itself was awesome, very laidback and with an amazing view over the sunset over the water. This was a very nice ending to a very nice weekend.
