Over the past 15 years, Jens M\u00fcffelmann has been a key person to Axel Springer\u2019s efforts in developing from its historic base primarily in daily newspapers and magazines to one of Europe\u2019s leading players in digital media. The company\u2019s U.S. operations, which Jens M\u00fcffelmann oversees, include business news site Business Insider, with a new Nordic edition that is produced by Bonnier Business Media, and investments in NowThis, Mic, Thrillist, Airbnb, among others.<\/p>\n
\u201cJens M\u00fcffelmann along with last year\u2019s new board members, Peder Bonnier and Kerstin Mogull, provide the board with significant digital knowledge and experience, that will strengthen Bonnier\u2019s continued transformation,\u201d says Erik Haegerstrand.<\/p>\n
He replaces Pontus Bonnier, who has declined another term after many years of service on the board, but remains a board member for Bonnier Holding, parent company of Bonnier AB.<\/p>\n
About Jens M\u00fcffelmann<\/p>\n
Jens M\u00fcffelmann has worked at Axel Springer since 1997 in a number of positions, including as Director of Strategy and Head of Electronic Media with responsibility for the formation of the digital portfolio. In 2014, he was appointed CEO for Axel Spring Digital Ventures, and from January 2016, he has also been in charge of the company\u2019s U.S. operations. He has a PhD in organizational science from the University of the German Federal Armed Forces Hamburg based on a research project with Columbia University in New York, and an MBA from Fordham University as well as an engineering degree from the Technical University of Berlin.<\/p>\n
