Bonnier invests in Infarm

Bonnier joins as a partner in a global green tech company that enables the cultivation of crops in connected and smart greenhouses.

Infarm is a German company that harvests about half a million plants per month and whose customers are some of the largest wholesalers and grocery retailers in ten countries, including Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States. With the help of connected, smart greenhouses and plantations that are placed vertically indoors, the need for both space and water is reduced. In addition, the need for transportations is reduced when cultivation takes place directly on site in the cities where consumers are located.

– The pandemic has put a global focus on the challenges of ecology and agriculture. We will change how people produce, eat and think about food, says Infarm’s co-founder and CEO Erez Galonska, in a press release.

– Infarm is a leading player that is at the forefront of a development that changes and streamlines the production chain for growing crops and makes production more local and sustainable. We are very enthusiastic about being involved in financing Infarm’s development, says Erik Haegerstrand, CEO of Bonnier Group.

The investment announced today includes, in addition to Bonnier, LGT Lightstone, Atomico, and Balderton Capital. The capital will be used for continued expansion for Infarm in Europe, North America and Asia.
