Business to Business Combines Forces With Bonnier News

Bonnier has made a strategic decision that the business area Business to Business – which includes business media and niche knowledge and information services in the Nordic region, Germany and Eastern Europe – will become part of Bonnier News as of Jan. 1, 2019. The goal is to continue to increase growth and profitability within these areas, and to develop within the areas of health and digital education.

Bonnier Business to Business consists of leading business media in, among other countries, Denmark (Dagbladet Børsen), Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Slovenia, information and knowledge services within the areas of financial information, law and healthcare, as well as products within digital education, where Clio Online is a market leader in elementary and secondary schools in Denmark and is growing quickly in the Swedish market. During 2017, the business area had turnover of SEK 1.13 billion and an EBITA of SEK 131 million, with a majority of revenues from digital sources.

Bonnier News currently includes a number of Swedish brands in the similar business and niche categories, grouped together in the Di Group. Alongside flagship business daily Dagens industri are real estate news and event company Fastighetsnytt, medical daily Dagens Medicin, media brand Resumé, sustainability brand Aktuell Hållbarhet and Veckans Affärer, among others.

Says Anders Eriksson, CEO of Bonnier News:

“We have every opportunity to continue growing within business media and information and knowledge services. The areas of health and digital education are particularly interesting, where Bonnier already has significant operations, and where there are big possibilities for us to grow, both organically as well as through acquisitions. There is a very natural fit between Business to Business and News when it comes to business and niche media. By bringing together the various businesses under one roof, we are expanding our focus on these areas and can mobilize greater resources for digital and product development.”

Karmo Kaas-Lutsberg, who today is head of business area Business to Business, will remain responsible for the affected businesses even after they become part of Bonnier News in January:

Bonnier has identified B2B media, information and knowledge services as one of the areas with strong growth potential. Growth initiatives, both organic and acquisitions, are very much dependent on having a certain scale. We are looking forward to joining forces with the News business and niche media for product development, as well to scale up digital development and analytics capabilities between Business to Business and News teams.”

Last week, it was announced that Bonnier’s Swedish magazine operations would become part of News in January 2019. The revenues of the businesses within News – including both the magazines and Business to Business revenues – have a yearly turnover of some SEK 7 billion.
