Mattias Fyrenius new CEO of Bonnierförlagen

Mattias Fyrenius takes over as CEO of Bonnierförlagen. He succeeds Sara Börsvik, who joins the publishing house’s board. In connection with the change of CEO, Olga Strandhammar will take over the newly established role as CFO of Bonnierförlagen.

Mattias Fyrenius has worked at Bonnier Carlsen, part of Bonnierförlagen, as publishing director and publicist director since 2019. He has previously been CEO of Nobel Media, head of TV4 Nya Medier and head of SvD Nya Medier. He has been a member of Bonnierförlagen’s board for various periods since 2008.

– Mattias Fyrenius has an impressive experience and knowledge of the media and book industry. For many years I have gotten to know Mattias both as a colleague and as a member of Bonnierförlagen’s board. I am convinced that he and the team at Sveavägen will further strengthen our position in a book market that is perhaps more exciting than ever, says Håkan Rudels, CEO of Bonnier Books.

– I am of course happy and proud to to have been entrusted the mission to lead the publishing house together with such an experienced team. An assignment like this is undertaken with equal parts humility, energy and passion. Sara Börsvik has made an impressive effort and we have a strong starting point. Bonnierförlagen is the publishing house that works with the best authors and employees who publish, market and sell the most relevant literature in Sweden, regardless of genre and format. And that what we will continue to do, says Mattias Fyrenius.

Sara Börsvik leaves the publishing house for a role as CFO for Epidemic Sound. At the same time, she joins Bonnierförlagen’s board as a board member.

– It is with very mixed feelings that I leave my operational role at Bonnierförlagen. It is a fantastic publishing house with many wonderful people that I will miss. It therefore feels extra valuable for me to continue to be involved through the board work, says Sara Börsvik.

– When Sara was appointed CEO, I was sure that she would strengthen Bonnierförlagen with her confident leadership. She really did. The company has improved its results by more than 40% since she took over as CEO and in 2020 Bonnierförlagen sold more books than ever before in our 183-year history. I would have liked to continue working with Sara operationally, but at the same time I am happy that she has agreed to be part of Bonnierförlagen’s board, says Håkan Rudels.

Bonnierförlagen’s Head of Controlling Olga Strandhammar enters the newly created role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Bonnierförlagen. Olga has worked at Bonnierförlagen since 2019 and before that worked in leading positions within Universum, Swedbank and Tele 2.

Mattias Fyrenius and Olga Strandhammar will take up their new roles on March 29, 2021. Until a successor is appointed, Mattias Fyrenius will continue in his current role as publishing director and publishing director for Bonnier Carlsen, in parallel with his new role as CEO of Bonnierförlagen.
