New shops

Paperback bookstore chain Pocket Shop has opened two new stores in Germany, both at the Frankfurt airport. The new stores mean that the Sweden-based company now has three stores in Germany. The first, at Berlin’s Tegel airport, opened in Oct. 2008.

“We’re looking forward to the opening of the big new Berlin airport BER,” says Johan Wellander, director of business development at Pocket Shop. “We have a complete store there ready to open and in a convenient location. Unfortunately, the airport’s opening date has been repeatedly postponed. But hopefully it will be opening now in October 2013.”

Plans are to establish more shops, but the chain is taking it one step at a time. “Most important now is to see how the new stores perform before we move on further,” says Wellander.

Pocket Shop, which was acquired by Bonnierförlagen earlier this year, also has 16 stores in Sweden and one in Finland.
