Making Headlines

På Stan, the weekend section of the biggest Swedish morning paper Dagens Nyheter, won the award for Campaign of the Year—the most prestigious prize available at the Stockholm Media Awards. The winning campaign must be pioneering, innovative and challenge traditional media solutions. The appointment was made during Stockholm Media Week at Hotel Rival in Stockholm last week.

“The Campaign of the Year is one of the finest prizes you can get in marketing, so we are very happy,” says Annika Wink, Marketing and Information Director at Dagens Nyheter

Dagens Nyheter has also received four nominations for INMA Awards. Newspapers from 43 countries are competing for awards from the 74-year-old organization, honoring the best campaigns in newspaper marketing. Dagens Nyheter belongs to the largest category, “circulation over 300,000 copies”, where they received four nominations.

In the internet category, Dagens Nyheter has received two nominations out of a possible three: one for the Dagens Nyhetermobile phone, a unique device adapted for newspaper reading used to launch Dagens Nyheter‘s mobile site, and one for DN.factlab, a fact database aimed at teachers and students. The third nominee in that category is The New York Times

“This is proof of Dagens Nyheter‘s successful development work on paper, online and on mobile phones. That we are nominated in various categories and channels shows our breadth,” says Thorbjörn Larsson, Editor-in-Chief of Dagens Nyheter

The INMA Awards will be presented to winners at a gala in Miami on May 15, 2009.
