New CEO for Pocket Shop

Northern European paperback bookstore chain Pocket Shop will be getting a new CEO: Anna Borné Minberger. She will succeed current CEO Mathias Engdahl, who has chosen to leave his position. Borné Minberger most recently headed the Bonnier Group Agency, which sells book rights, as well as book publishers Kartago, 2244, Rebus and Mix förlag.

Borné Minberger has worked within Bonnierförlagen since 2005, when she was recruited for the role of CEO/Publisher for Bonnier Carlsen, after which she served in the role of publisher for Albert Bonniers Förlag, Wahlström & Widstrand and Bokförlaget Forum.”It’s going to be so exciting,” she says. “Pocket Shop is a well-run company with a strong brand and a lot of engaged and knowledgeable employees. My challenge will be preserving what Pocket Shop stands for at the same time we prepare for the future. It’s no exaggeration to say that there is a lot happening in our industry at the moment. To continue the expansion outside Sweden will also be an exciting part of the job. I started my career in the book industry with Mathias and Pocketgrossisten some 15 years ago. It feels a bit like I’m closing the circle now.”

Mathias Engdahl founded Pocket Shop 23 years ago. Since 2012, Pocket Shop has been part of Bonnier Books Nordic. Engdahl will kontinue to be a part of Pocket Shop as a member of the company’s board of directors.
